Now that winter has finally caught up with us, we’re ready to take on our first Blizzard of the season!!
– Winter Storm Jonas (no this is not a Jonas Brothers reunion tour) is supposed to come around Friday into Saturday and even possibly Sunday.
– Did you know that the largest snow storm ever recorded was in Buffalo, NY with a record 6 feet of snow and 45mph winds!!

– For a blizzard to form, warm air must rise over cold air.
There’s two ways that this can occur.
Winds pull cold air toward the equator from the poles and brings warm air toward the poles from the equator.
When warm air and cold air are brought together, a front is formed and precipitation occurs.

– While no two snowflakes are alike, there are 35 types of snowflakes that can classified into 6 basic patterns.
Star, Dendrite, Columns, Plates, Column capped w/ Plates, and Needles.
Each type of flake is a result of unique atmospheric conditions present at the crystal’s birth.

– The largest snowman ever built was in Bethel, Maine at 122ft 1in.

– Russia, Mongolia, Finland, Iceland & Canada round out as the top 5 coldest countries in the world, aside from the Continent of Antarctica.

“We had a great quick pre-movie dinner last night at FINS. The wait staff was really nice and very helpful in helping us decide what would be the quickest meal available to us on the menu. We chose Rice & Beans and a really delicious Veggie Burrito. The Chips & Salsa were excellent the recipe was not too hot, yet not too mild and bland. The burrito was very big and full of delicious, very fresh and very tasty veggies. We loved the entire experience. Many thanks to the staff for your friendly smiles and small town hospitality.
